DESCRIPTION
The Elipson Legacy 3230 is the spectacular flagship speaker in the Legacy range. It’s consists of a tall cabinet for the low-end woofers with a spherical cabinet placed on top for the highs and mids – a design tour de force.
The Legacy range is heavily influenced on the innovative designs of Elipson’s past 60 years, taking ideas from models such as the La Religieuse speaker, the 4050 model and the 1303 model, and combines those with the superior materials and designs of today. The 3230 pays homage to those designs very strongly with it’s column and spherical cabinet combination.
The Legacy 3230 is loaded with two 210mm low-frequency aluminium surfaced cellulose pulp drivers that are designed to deliver low distortion, which are housed in the column. A 160mm ceramic driver provides the mid-range and the highs via an AMT ribbon tweeter, both are housed in the spherical cabinet placed on top.
A wide-dispersion Air Motion Transformer (AMT) ribbon tweeter provides the high frequencies. It uses multiple folds along the entire length to increase contact area with the air, plus to provide a higher velocity at the reproduced frequencies. By pinching the air in between its folds, the speed of the expelled air is significantly improved, which improves the transient response.
The 3230 cabinet is made of 30mm MDF, covered with a wood veneer and has internal supports to strengthen the speaker and combat resonance. The cabinet is also ported with the opening underneath, which allows the 3230 to be installed in most placements.
Elipson’s Legacy 3230 speaker pair come with black, circular, fabric, speaker grilles that attach to the driver units by a magnet system, if you wish to cover them up. They also come with 4 decoupling spikes and 4 counter-spikes, per speaker, for maximum stability.
